ANGLESEY MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING, COERCIVE BEHAVIOR AND STRANGULATION IN DOMESTIC ABUSE CASE
A man from Anglesey has been convicted and imprisoned for his involvement in a domestic abuse incident.Joshua Alexander Hughes, aged 33 from Dwyran, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on October 17 after admitting to controlling and coercive behavior alongside intentional strangulation.
The incidents took place from April 2021 to February 2023, during which Hughes used controlling tactics and inflicted physical harm on the victim on several occasions.
He was sentenced to four years in prison and received a restraining order.
Detective Constable Cara Williams spoke about the case, emphasizing that domestic abuse can take many forms and can have enduring effects.
She praised the victim’s bravery and encouraged others experiencing domestic abuse to speak out, reassuring them their concerns will be addressed with seriousness.
