JOSEPH LITTLER SENTENCED IN FRENCHWOOD FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST TEENAGE GIRL
In a case that has shocked the local community of Frenchwood, Preston, a man named Joseph Littler has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison for engaging in sexual activities with a vulnerable 15-year-old girl. The incident, which occurred over a period spanning from 2005 to 2006, came to light after Littler, aged 64, pleaded guilty in August of the previous year to the charges brought against him.Joseph Littler, who resides on Arundel Place in Frenchwood, was convicted at Preston Crown Court and received a custodial sentence of 1 year and 272 days. The court's decision reflects the severity of his actions and the impact on the young victim. In addition to his prison term, Littler faces lifelong restrictions: he has been disqualified from working with children for the remainder of his life, placed on the sex offenders register permanently, and will be subject to a lifetime license upon his release from prison.
Detective Constable Rachael Ashcroft, a representative from Preston’s public protection unit, expressed her views on the case, stating, “Littler preyed on a vulnerable young girl after he gained the trust of her family, and it is only right that he is put behind bars for what he has done.” She further emphasized the importance of the sentence, saying, “I am pleased that he has been given an indeterminate sentence which means that he will only be released when he can prove that he is no longer a danger to the public.”
Detective Ashcroft also conveyed her hope that the victim and her family will find some measure of relief and closure from the court’s decision, allowing them to begin the process of healing and moving forward from what she described as a “horrific ordeal.” The case underscores ongoing concerns about safeguarding vulnerable individuals within the community of Frenchwood and highlights the efforts of law enforcement to ensure justice is served.
