MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES

A man aged 36 has been sentenced to over 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to several child sex crimes.

Joseph Hewitt, formerly living in West Haddon, appeared before Northampton Crown Court last month on June 26.

He confessed to two charges of raping a girl under the age of 13, one charge of raping a girl between 13 and 15, and three charges of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15.

The criminal acts were carried out against a young girl over a six-year period when she was between 10 and 16 years old.

After a report was made, Hewitt was detained and charged.

Following his guilty plea during the hearing, he was handed a sentence of 18 years and six months in prison.
