JORDAN WILSON'S BRUTAL DOG ATTACK IN DUNMURRY AND BELFAST COURT HEARING

Jordan Wilson, born on September 23, 1992, and residing at 88B Rowan Drive in Dunmurry, Belfast, found himself at the center of a serious animal cruelty case that drew the attention of local authorities and the court system. The incident, which took place in the heart of Belfast city centre, involved Wilson violently kicking a defenseless dog in the head, an act that was captured on CCTV footage and subsequently used as key evidence during his court proceedings.

The footage, which was reviewed by police, showed Wilson walking from the Grand Opera House towards the Europa Hotel on October 28, 2021. As he moved along the street, he was observed to suddenly turn and kick the dog aggressively in the head. Witnesses and the Crown lawyer described the dog as appearing visibly frightened, with its tail lowered in a submissive posture. The attack was repeated when Wilson delivered a second kick before police officers intervened, stopping him and arresting him at the scene.

This disturbing incident was not an isolated event for Wilson. Earlier, on August 20, 2021, police found him lying intoxicated on Dublin Road in Belfast. When officers approached and requested an ambulance to assist him due to his drunken state, Wilson responded with verbal abuse. During the attempt to take him to the hospital, he became physically aggressive, kicking a police sergeant in the leg. These actions led to additional charges and court proceedings.

Wilson ultimately pleaded guilty to multiple offenses, including causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, disorderly conduct, and assaulting police officers. His defense solicitor, Joe Hackett, acknowledged that the incident involving the dog was “very unsavoury,” but emphasized that Wilson had no prior history of similar violence. Hackett argued that the incident was a one-off, fueled by alcohol consumption, and not indicative of his client’s usual behavior.

During the sentencing hearing, Deputy District Judge Philip Mateer sentenced Wilson to one month in custody for the offenses he admitted. Additionally, he ordered Wilson to serve an extra three months for breaching previous suspended sentences. The judge criticized Wilson for his behavior, stating, “You were unnecessarily abusive to police who were simply trying to help you on the Dublin Road when you were in an intoxicated state.”

Regarding the animal cruelty, the judge described the act as causing the dog to cower and behave in a frightened manner, emphasizing the severity of the attack. Wilson was also disqualified from owning animals for five years, although he retains the right to appeal this decision. The judge remarked that if Wilson can demonstrate this was an isolated incident and that he can control his temper around animals, the court might consider lifting the disqualification.

In total, Wilson received a sentence of four months in jail, along with a five-year ban on keeping animals, which he can challenge through an appeal. The case highlights ongoing concerns about animal cruelty and the importance of holding offenders accountable for their actions in Belfast and Dunmurry.
