Jordan Osbourne, a man from Rye, has received a five-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping a woman who was known to him in her own residence.
The 22-year-old resident of Parkwood in Iden, near Rye, was detained in February 2022 following a report from an 18-year-old woman claiming she had been assaulted sexually.
The woman described how Osbourne, who had been allowed to sleep on her sofa in the living room, then followed her into her bedroom and committed the assault early on January 3, 2022.
Support was provided to the victim by specialist officers during the investigation, which led to Osbourne’s arrest and detention.
He faced charges of rape and was subsequently tried at Brighton Crown Court.
After a four-day trial concluded on March 6, the jury found Osbourne guilty.
Later, on March 20 at Hove Trial Centre, he was sentenced to five years in prison and issued a 10-year restraining order to protect the victim.
