JORDAN HYMAN FROM EAST RENFREWSHIRE JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN EDINBURGH
In a case that has shocked the local community and drawn significant attention from the judicial system, Jordan Hyman, a 30-year-old man from East Renfrewshire, has been sentenced to a five-year prison term for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed over several years.The crimes, which involved the abuse and rape of two young girls, span a disturbing timeline that began when Hyman was just a teenager.
Hyman’s criminal activities came to light during a high-profile trial held at the High Court in Edinburgh.
The court heard that Hyman had preyed on two girls, one aged seven and the other nine, subjecting both to acts of sexual abuse and rape.
The severity of his offenses prompted the presiding judge, Lord Kinclaven, to emphasize the gravity of the case, stating, “Your offending took place when you were a very young man.
It started when you were 12 and continued to 19 or 20 or thereby.” Lord Kinclaven underscored the importance of the court sending a clear message about the seriousness of such crimes, asserting that “there is no alternative to a custodial sentence.” The judge took into account Hyman’s youth and immaturity at the time of the offenses when determining the length of his sentence, ultimately settling on five years of imprisonment.
Additionally, Hyman was ordered to remain under supervision for a further two years after his release, with a stern warning that any breach of license conditions could result in his return to custody.
The court proceedings revealed that Hyman had a long history of sexual offenses dating back to 1998.
He was convicted of raping one girl over a four-year period in Giffnock, near Glasgow, during which he also exposed himself and engaged in sexual acts with her.
The assault included physical violence, as Hyman punched and kicked the victim, and even dropped a bed leg on her foot.
His criminal record also includes a second case involving a different girl, whom he raped over a three-year span starting in 2000, also in the Giffnock area.
During this period, he assaulted her physically and committed sexual abuse.
Hyman’s earlier convictions encompass seven charges, including rape, indecency, assault, and underage sex, committed between 1998 and 2006.
His defense attorney, Thomas Ross, acknowledged that Hyman had developed behavioral problems at the age of 11.
Despite receiving counseling and therapy, these interventions did not fully address his issues.
Mr.
Ross also highlighted that Hyman had served a brief period in the Israeli army, during which he sustained knee injuries that now require him to walk with the aid of a stick.
The defense emphasized that Hyman had maintained a lengthy period without further offenses, and he was subsequently placed on the sex offenders’ register to monitor his conduct moving forward.
