THUG TOLD EX SHE WAS GETTING DONE IN
Jordan Donald, a 24-year-old man from Sadlers Wells Court in South Lanarkshire, threatened his former partner with violent language and repeatedly left offensive voicemails over a span of nine days.He admitted to causing feelings of fear and alarm but explained that his reaction was triggered by mixed signals from his ex-partner regarding their potential reconciliation, which led him to lose self-control.
During the legal proceedings at Paisley Sheriff Court, it was presented that Donald and the woman had been in a five-year relationship that ended in January 2021.
The prosecutor detailed that on June 11, the woman sent a Snapchat image of herself with a friend, after which she received a series of threatening voicemails from Donald.
The messages, received around 8:45 and 8:50 pm, included insults such as calling her a 'tramp' and a 'f****** idiot,' while also making vulgar and demeaning comments about her appearance and morality.
Additional voicemails were received on June 18 and June 20, containing similar insults and derogatory remarks.
The police were involved after the June 20 call, and Donald was detained on June 26 at Motherwell police station, where he chose not to respond to the caution and charge.
His defence team characterized his conduct as 'deplorable,' noting that his actions stemmed from frustrations caused by the mixed messages from his ex and his ingestion of alcohol, which led to emotional upheaval.
The sheriff criticised Donald’s behaviour, highlighting the seriousness and the offensive nature of his comments over the nine-day period.
As a result, he was sentenced to eight months in jail and was subject to a non-harassment order for a year, prohibiting him from contacting or approaching his former partner during that period.
