Oswestry Child Abuser
A paedophile businessman named Jonathan Winn, based in Oswestry, who had previously been convicted of downloading and distributing child sex abuse images, has been sentenced to jail. Winn, aged 46, was banned from traveling abroad without informing the police in advance due to his prior conviction. He violated this restriction by fleeing the UK in October last year, traveling from Hull to the Netherlands with his partner and her daughter, then progressing to Poland and Thailand. While on the run, Winn attempted to deceive the probation service by claiming he was unable to do his unpaid work and rehabilitation activities because he was hospitalised suffering from neuropathy (nerve damage). Despite his claims, police arrested him in Thailand in January of this year. He was imprisoned there for two months before being deported back to Heathrow in March. The court was informed on June 9 that Winn had managed to evade authorities initially but was eventually caught and detained. This case highlights the serious breach of legal restrictions and the efforts to bring offenders to justice across international borders.
