Chesterfield Child Sexual Abuser
In November 2019, a disturbing case of online sexual misconduct came to light involving Jonathan Richardson, a resident of Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Richardson, aged 59, engaged in inappropriate and sexualized conversations with a girl who was only 13 years old, under the guise of providing her with what he claimed was 'free education.'

The victim, known by the pseudonym 'Shelly,' was actually a self-styled paedophile hunter, aiming to expose predators like Richardson. During their online exchanges, Richardson asked Shelly invasive questions about her knowledge of sex and made inappropriate comments, including calling her 'naughty' for not informing her mother about her online activities. He also told her she was 'naughty' for not revealing her internet presence to her family, further manipulating her into secrecy.

Richardson's online communication with Shelly began in November 2018 and continued until March 2019. Initially, their conversations revolved around everyday topics, but as time progressed, Richardson started to introduce more sexualized content. He inquired about her personal life, asking if she had a boyfriend or drank alcohol, and claimed to be providing her with 'free sex education.' He explicitly instructed her not to discuss their conversations with her mother, emphasizing her 'naughty' behavior for not doing so.

Despite the escalation in their interactions, the conversations in early 2019 did not contain explicit sexual content. However, the situation changed dramatically on April 5, 2019, when a group of online vigilantes known as The Soloceptors / Soul Survivors, who monitor and confront online predators, visited Richardson's address in Walton, Chesterfield. Their intervention was prompted by the suspicious nature of his online activities.

Following their visit, police officers attended Richardson's residence, and he was promptly arrested. His wife was reportedly distressed and screaming during the incident. The authorities found sufficient evidence to charge him with engaging in sexualized online communication with a minor.

Judge Jason Macadam sentenced Richardson to a two-year community order. As part of his punishment, Richardson was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and attend 30 rehabilitation sessions with the probation service. The judge expressed his disgust at Richardson's behavior, stating that decent adults would be revolted by such conduct and emphasizing the harm and distress caused to the victim and Richardson's own family. Judge Macadam also remarked that Richardson's claims of not deriving sexual gratification from his actions were not credible and that he clearly needed professional help.

This case highlights the ongoing dangers of online predators and the importance of vigilant community efforts to protect vulnerable minors from exploitation and abuse.
