SERIAL SEX OFFENDER JOHNNY BRAZIL JAILED FOR MURDER
A serial burglar responsible for the murder of an 84-year-old woman during a break-in was confronted with a heated outburst at a court hearing as he received a prison sentence exceeding two decades.Johnny Brazil caused devastating injuries to Joyce Burgess, who was frail and in tears, leaving her covered in blood and suffering from extensive bruising after she attempted to prevent him from grabbing her handbag containing approximately £60.
During the sentencing, Brazil told Judge Jonathan Black to "f*** your mum's c***" and left the courtroom in anger.
On Friday at Guildford Crown Court, he was sentenced to a term of 23 years and three months, which includes an extended license period.
The judge described him as someone who preys on vulnerable elderly individuals, often gaining entry by deceit before resorting to force, including theft from their homes.
Specifically, Brazil entered Ms.
Burgess's home by asking for a glass of water and then used significant force to steal her handbag.
When the police responded, they found her bleeding heavily from five different wounds.
Wearing a white T-shirt with a tattoo inscribed with "mum" on his arm, Brazil pleaded guilty to manslaughter and robbery earlier in June, having admitted to related charges such as burglary, attempted burglary, possession of a lock knife, and property damage.
The extended sentence was intended to address the seriousness of these additional offences, as stated by the judge.
Before the sentencing, Brazil is arraigned on four charges relating to failure to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders’ register and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
Mr Forgan now summarises Brazil’s 46 previous convictions for 79 offences including numerous burglaries, sexual assault, battery, exposure, harassment and criminal damage stretching back to 2008, when he was 16.
