Johnathan Price, aged 54 and residing on Cwm Road in Hafod, Swansea, was involved in a pattern of stalking and harassment directed at his former partner. He engaged in unwanted communication with her from June 1 to July 22.
His actions culminated in physical assaults on both the woman and her son.
During proceedings at Swansea Magistrates' Court, Price admitted guilt to charges of stalking and two counts of assault by beating.
He received a sentence of eight months in prison.
The court noted that his previous criminal record and character contributed to the severity of his offenses.
Police described his conduct as a campaign of persistent harassment that should not be tolerated.
A police spokesperson stated, 'His escalation to violence indicates he is a dangerous individual.
The victim was left fearing what he might do next, including the possibility of him showing up at her home.' Authorities added that after his former partner reported his behavior, Price exerted pressure on her to withdraw her statement and sent multiple messages to dissuade her from cooperating with law enforcement.
Law enforcement officials underscored that all forms of stalking and harassment are unacceptable and will be prosecuted.
They urged anyone experiencing such behavior to come forward and report it immediately.
The conviction and imprisonment underscore the serious attitude law enforcement takes toward stalking and assault cases.
