Semilong Animal Abuser
On May 15, 2024, a disturbing series of violent incidents unfolded in the residential streets of Northampton, specifically in the Semilong area, involving John Wright, a 21-year-old man born on September 11, 2002, and residing on Norfolk Street. The events began when Northamptonshire Police officers responded to distress calls from Wright's family home on Stockmead Road, Little Billing, after reports of a serious assault.

According to police reports, a violent altercation erupted inside the family residence. During this confrontation, Wright, who was only dressed in his boxer shorts, exited the house in an agitated state. He then proceeded to walk into the front garden of a neighboring property, where he committed a shocking act of animal cruelty by punching a Yorkshire terrier. The dog yelped loudly in pain, drawing the attention of its owner, a man in his seventies.

Wright’s aggression did not stop there. When the elderly man confronted him about the attack on his pet, Wright responded with violence, pushing the man to the ground and then standing over him as he repeatedly punched him. The elderly victim sustained multiple injuries, including a dislocated finger, two black eyes, and cuts and bruises to his head and arms, all inflicted during this unprovoked assault.

Following this violent outburst, Wright returned to the street, where he engaged in a heated argument with his mother. The situation escalated further when he was seen grabbing and hitting her multiple times. His violent tendencies continued as he noticed a woman sitting in a parked car nearby. Wright attempted to force his way into the vehicle and assaulted the woman in the process.

Despite efforts by his mother and brother to restrain him, Wright’s aggression persisted. He then picked up a large piece of concrete and, as he walked down the street, pushed a young boy off his bicycle—an incident that thankfully resulted in no injuries. His rampage culminated when he threw the concrete block through the windscreen of a parked VW Jetta.

Wright’s violent spree was eventually halted when Northampton Response officers arrived on the scene. He was promptly arrested and taken to hospital due to concerns over acute behavioural disorder. While receiving medical treatment, Wright assaulted a police officer, leading to further charges and his subsequent arrest.

He faced multiple charges, including animal cruelty, assault, and criminal damage. Wright pleaded guilty to all six charges brought against him. The court sentenced him to 39 months in prison and issued a restraining order preventing him from entering Stockmead Road until 2028, aiming to protect the local community from further incidents.
