A judge is to receive reports and background material on Army sergeant John Widdecombe, 35, who was convicted of indecently assaulting and false imprisoning a woman.
The jury deliberated for eight hours before finding Widdecombe guilty on one charge of indecent assault and one of false imprisonment.
The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, described how Widdecombe entered her home at 2:15 am on April 7, and after a struggle, tied her hands behind her back to a door handle, read a Bible passage, kissed her, then left.
Widdecombe claimed he had never known the woman and was in the sergeant's mess at Blandford Camp on that night.
The judge ordered a pre-sentence report, and Widdecombe was remanded in custody until sentencing in January.
