MAN GETS LIFE FOR CIMLA MURDER AFTER STABBING GIRLFRIEND 26 TIMES
A man named John Lewis, aged 55, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend, Terrie-Ann Jones, aged 33, in Cimla.
The incident occurred on 5 January when Lewis attacked Ms Jones in her home, stabbing her 26 times before leaving the scene.
The injuries included an 8cm (3-inch) deep stab wound to her heart, multiple wounds to her neck, collarbone, chest, and hands, indicative of a violent assault.
Lewis claimed he was acting in self-defence, stating that Ms Jones had attacked him with a knife and he only attempted to defend himself.
He later called emergency services, confessing, 'I've killed somebody.
My girlfriend.' Evidence presented in court showed that after the attack, Lewis took money from her purse, changed clothes, and went to a pub in Briton Ferry.
Despite his claims of self-defence, he was convicted of her murder by a jury and sentenced to serve a minimum of 19 years.
The court heard that Ms Jones was left in a pool of blood in her home, and her family expressed their profound grief, stating, 'Everyone that knew her loved her and we cannot tell you how much we are missing her.' They also highlighted that her young children are devastated by her loss, and the community was deeply affected by the brutal violence.
