A man from Wolverhampton has received a 12-year prison sentence after being found guilty of child sexual abuse offenses committed in the 1970s.
John Harris, 64 years old, was convicted on nine charges following cooperation from his victim, who was able to assist investigators in building the case against him.
The victim approached authorities at a point when she felt ready to discuss the abuse she endured during her childhood.
With assistance from a team of experienced detectives, she helped bring Harris to justice, resulting in his sentence yesterday.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court, Harris was convicted on eight counts of rape and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13, with the crimes occurring starting in 1976.
Beyond his prison time, he has also been mandated to register as a sex offender for life.
