FORMER DRIVER JAILED FOR ONLINE CHILD GROOMING AND INDECENT IMAGES
A former chauffeur who used the internet to try to meet children for sex has been given an extended prison sentence after being branded a danger to society.
John Gonzalez-Lago, 53, logged onto online chat rooms in an attempt to set up illegal assignations with youngsters, Guildford Crown Court heard on Friday (June 23).
But police found out what he was doing and arrested him.
Detectives also discovered more than 3,000 indecent images of children and one depicting sex between a human being and an animal.
Gonzalez-Lago, of Victoria Road, Knaphill, Woking, appeared for sentencing after pleading guilty to two offences of attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of a child sex offence.
He also admitted attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, six offences of making indecent images, and one of possession of extreme pornography.
He was jailed for seven years, with at least five years mandatory.
He will serve an additional three years on licence and was put on the sex offenders register for life.
He is also banned from having unsupervised contact with children for an indefinite period.
Judge Peter Moss described Gonzalez-Lago as dangerous and imposed an extended jail term to protect the public.
The court highlighted that the indecent images depicting sexual abuse and pain are among the worst of "depravity."
