PENSIONER JAILED FOR POSSESSION OF DISTURBING CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A pensioner identified as John Evans, aged 70, was found in possession of extremely disturbing images of children being sexually abused, including children as young as three years old.Evans initiated contact with what he believed to be a 12-year-old girl, called Chloe, through social media, but it was actually an undercover police decoy.
Following this contact, he was arrested at his workplace on April 25, 2022.
Police seized his phone and two laptops, which contained a total of 175 images: 32 category A, 15 category B, 83 category C, and 45 extreme pornographic images.
Prosecutor Christopher Evans described some of the images, including the rape of children aged between three and five.
Evans initially gave no comment but later pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images and possessing extreme material.
He has a previous record of good character.
The court sentenced Evans to eight months' imprisonment, suspended for two years, and ordered him to undertake 10 days of rehabilitation activity, pay costs of £150, perform unpaid work, and adhere to a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a 10-year sex offender notification requirement.
