JOHN DOUGLAS ‘JD’ DUNCAN

John “JD” Duncan — Inverurie, Aberdeenshire (originally from Perth) John Duncan, known locally as JD Duncan, was sentenced on 13th May 2026 following a guilty plea to charges of domestic abuse.

He received a Community Payback Order and a Non-Harassment Order.

The abuse included psychological, emotional and physical abuse.

This included isolating the victim from friends and family, making threatening and controlling phone calls including using unregistered phones to contact the victim in the middle of the night, threatening self-harm as a means of coercion, attempting to interfere with the victim’s personal relationships and workplace, and making threats of violence against third parties known to the victim.

The victim, a professional woman, met Duncan by chance in 2019.

Not being from the Perth area, she had no way of knowing his background or the activities he was concealing at the time.

Once drawn into the relationship, the controlling and abusive behaviour made it extremely difficult to leave.

Her bravery in coming forward and seeing the case through to conviction should be recognised.

Duncan has a previous conviction for drug dealing, having been jailed for his involvement in the supply of cocaine with a street value of approximately £30,000.

Members of the public should be aware that this public persona is at odds with his criminal record for domestic abuse and drug dealing.

Duncan also runs his own trades business in the Inverurie area and has connections to a local hotel in Inverurie.

Members of the public, particularly women and children, are advised to exercise caution.

He is known to police and has a history of offending.

He is currently residing in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire and still has links to his hometown, Perth.
