JOHN DAVIS FROM OLD LEAKE SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN LINCOLN AFTER DRUG USE
A man identified as John Davis, aged 22, hailing from Meadow Way in the village of Old Leake, has been formally sentenced to prison after being found guilty of serious sexual offenses. The conviction stems from a trial held at Lincoln Crown Court in July, where Davis was charged with two counts of rape. The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about the incidents that took place in June 2022.According to the evidence presented, Davis engaged in sexual assault by forcing his victim to perform oral sex on him before proceeding to penetrate her. These acts were committed while Davis was under the influence of cannabis, a factor that the court acknowledged as an aggravating circumstance. The judge overseeing the case, Simon Hirst, emphasized the severity of the offenses during the sentencing hearing held on Thursday.
Judge Hirst pointed out that there were multiple aggravating factors that worsened the nature of the crimes. He stated, 'First of all, you were under the influence of drink and drugs,' highlighting the impairment caused by Davis’s substance use at the time of the offenses. The judge further added, 'Secondly, there was an element of detention in this case. You would not allow her to leave. You held her face while you tried to kiss her,' indicating a level of control and coercion that compounded the criminal behavior.
Despite these serious allegations, Judge Hirst also acknowledged Davis’s background, noting that he is a man with no previous convictions and is generally regarded as a person of positive character. The court heard that people who knew Davis spoke well of him, which was considered during the sentencing process.
Ultimately, Davis was sentenced to five years in prison for his actions, reflecting the court’s view of the gravity of the crimes committed in Old Leake, Lincolnshire. The case underscores the importance of addressing issues related to substance abuse and consent, especially in cases involving vulnerable victims.
