JOHN CERVI FROM FELINHELI SENTENCED FOR FAILURE TO DISCLOSE IN CHILD'S HOUSE
In January 2021, John Cervi, a 36-year-old resident of Bangor Street in Felinheli, found himself at the center of a serious legal case involving his failure to adhere to mandatory notification requirements.Cervi, who is a convicted sex offender with a history of child abuse, was found to have been present in a house in Felinheli where a child was staying, yet he did not inform the authorities of his presence there.
The case was brought before Caernarfon Crown Court, where it was revealed that Cervi had previously served a seven-year prison sentence for his crimes.
Despite his release, he was under strict legal obligations to notify the police of his whereabouts and any places he was residing or visiting, as part of his ongoing supervision.
However, Cervi failed to comply with these requirements by not informing the police that he was in the Felinheli house where a child was present.
This breach of his notification duties was considered a serious violation of the conditions set upon him following his earlier conviction.
During the court proceedings, Judge Nicola Jones addressed Cervi directly, emphasizing the gravity of his actions.
She remarked, “In trying to put your past behind, you buried your head in the sand,” highlighting the importance of accountability and transparency for individuals with a history of offending, especially when children are involved.
Ultimately, Cervi was sentenced to a year in prison for his failure to comply with the notification requirements.
