CONVICTED BURGLAR JOHN BREWSTER JAILED FOR VIOLENT OUTBURST AND DAMAGE IN HULL
A convicted burglar who fell back into drug addiction after being released from prison became violent and abusive at his ex-girlfriend's home and "shouted that everyone in the house was dead".The offender, John Brewster, 27, of Orchard Park estate, Hull, admitted to affray, causing criminal damage, and possessing cannabis.
During the incident, Brewster demanded money, caused damage including a hole in the front door, and behaved in an "incredibly erratic" manner, making threats to go out and commit crimes.
He entered his ex-girlfriend's home without permission, behaving aggressively due to apparent drug influence, and refused to leave.
Police were called after he spit at his sister, damaged a TV, and was later found shouting in the street.
Brewster, who has a long criminal history with 21 previous offences—including a 15-month jail sentence for burglary in October last year and other sentences—was remanded in custody and sentenced to nine months' jail, along with a three-year restraining order.
The court noted his behavior was "incredibly erratic", and his ex-girlfriend was "very much in shock" and frightened for her safety.
The case highlighted Brewster's struggles with drugs and homelessness after prior convictions, including a burglary raid on a caravan in Orchard Park, which she described as affecting her confidence and trust in people.
