Fallin Rapist
In a significant case that has shocked the local community, John Barr, a man from Fallin, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against two young girls in Stirlingshire. The crimes, which spanned over several years, involved multiple addresses within the Fallin area and have now been brought to justice after a lengthy investigation.

According to court records, the abuse took place between October 1983 and October 1991. One of the victims was a girl aged between 6 and 15 years old at the time of the assaults, while the other was between 13 and 18 years old during her victimization. The severity of the crimes and the ages of the victims have made this case particularly distressing for the community and the families involved.

John Barr, who is now 67 years old, was first brought to the attention of authorities in November 2017. This was after one of the women, both of whom are now in their forties, decided to come forward and report the abuse to the police. Her courage in speaking out prompted a thorough investigation by the Forth Valley Public Protection Unit. The investigation also led to the reopening of a previous case from 2003, which involved the other woman, further highlighting the extent and duration of Barr’s alleged misconduct.

Following the investigation, charges were formally brought against Barr on March 21, 2018. The case proceeded through the judicial system, culminating in a trial at Edinburgh High Court. On July 26, 2019, Barr was found guilty of four counts of rape and one count of lewd and libidinous practices. The court’s decision reflects the serious nature of the crimes and the impact on the victims.

During the sentencing, the judge emphasized the gravity of Barr’s actions and the betrayal of trust involved. The seven-year prison sentence aims to serve justice for the victims and to send a clear message about the consequences of such criminal behavior. Barr’s case remains a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for continued efforts to protect vulnerable individuals from abuse in communities like Fallin and across Stirling-shire.
