Paez Rapist
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, John Aguiler, a man originally from Paez, has been found guilty of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl. The allegations span several years, beginning when the victim was only seven years old, and culminated in a conviction after a detailed trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London.

According to court proceedings, the victim, whose identity remains protected, initially denied the claims made by a psychic who was consulted by a relative. The fortune teller, however, indicated that Aguiler-Paez was causing harm to the girl. This revelation prompted further investigation, leading to Aguiler-Paez’s arrest and subsequent charges.

The court heard that the abuse started when the girl was just seven years old, with Aguiler-Paez beginning to touch her and exposing her to sexually explicit material. He reportedly showed her pornography and gave her money and presents in an attempt to keep her silent about the abuse. The prosecuting attorney, Gerard Pounder, detailed the progression of Aguiler-Paez’s misconduct, stating, “From an early age, the defendant exposed the complainant to sexual material – she initially found some pictures that were sexually explicit and he told her about it. Later he showed her pornographic films – his sexual behaviour became bolder and bolder until he eventually had sex with her and she wasn’t really sure what was going on.”

It was also revealed that Aguiler-Paez threatened the young girl, warning her that if she disclosed the abuse, she would face imprisonment, be hated by others, and called a prostitute. These threats appeared to be an attempt to silence her and prevent her from speaking out.

By the time the girl was 12, Aguiler-Paez had begun raping her in his Hackney bedsit, further escalating the severity of his crimes. The court was told that the abuse included multiple counts of sexual assault, rape, and assault by penetration of a child under 13. Aguiler-Paez, who has been held at HMP Huntercombe, denied all allegations, maintaining his innocence throughout the trial.

Additional context about Aguiler-Paez’s criminal history was presented during the proceedings. He arrived in the United Kingdom in 2002 and was previously convicted in December 2013 for smuggling cocaine from South America, resulting in a six-year prison sentence. His current sentencing has been postponed until March 26, to allow the probation service to evaluate the potential risk he poses to other young girls. It is anticipated that upon completion of his sentence, Aguiler-Paez will face deportation from the UK, given his criminal record and the nature of his offenses.
