JOEL ROBERTS FROM NANTYMOEL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON SCHOOLGIRL IN CARDIFF
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Joel David Roberts, a 25-year-old man from Nantymoel, was found guilty of committing a violent sexual assault against a young schoolgirl.The incident took place in Cardiff, where Roberts appeared before Cardiff Crown Court to face serious charges related to his heinous actions.
Roberts was charged with sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16, as well as rape.
However, during the proceedings, the charge of rape was reduced to sexual penetration, reflecting the specifics of the case.
The court heard that Roberts had deliberately pressured two 14-year-old girls into consuming alcohol, with the apparent goal of making them intoxicated and more vulnerable.

At that moment, Roberts assaulted her physically by hitting her, which caused her to lose consciousness.
Taking advantage of her unconscious state, he forcibly removed her clothing and sexually penetrated her.
Following this, Roberts then proceeded to sexually assault the second girl, further demonstrating his predatory and violent behavior.

Roberts was subsequently sentenced to six years in prison for his crimes.
