'HE SILENCED HER': MUM’S FURY AS ABUSER AVOIDS RAPE TRIAL AFTER DAUGHTER’S TRAGIC DEATH
An 'evil' thug who 'destroyed' his girlfriend by strangling and beating her has avoided a full trial for multiple rapes after her tragic death.Joel Osei, 33, made 29-year-old Tianne Robinson's life a misery after they began dating in 2021, abusing her to the point where, family members claim, the beauty influencer could no longer care for herself.
Tianne died from a blood clot on September 12, 2025.
The court heard that Tianne was "unrecognisable" due to Osei's abuse, though this was not linked to her death.
Osei, of Redbridge, faced four rape charges at a trial last year, but Tianne's death meant she could not give evidence.
CPS lawyers tried to get Tianne's video recorded police interview admitted as hearsay, but after legal arguments, and consultation with her family, Osei's pleas to the remaining counts were accepted and the rape allegations were not proceeded with.
Osei has denied all four counts of rape.
This week Osei was jailed for four years and two months at Snaresbrook Crown Court on domestic abuse charges of strangulation, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour.
The incidents included Osei kicking and dragging Tianne across the floor; covering her face with a pillow then strangling her; and threatening to bury her in Epping Forest and blow up her home.
When Osei met Tianne in 2021 he already had a long list of convictions, including for robbery, knife possession, and a string of serious assaults, though none directed towards women.
During the relationship, Osei's behaviour turned "violent and aggressive", and he started hurling insults like "fat f**king b*tch" and "slag".
He also goaded Tianne about not having children due to her diagnosis of endometriosis, which she shared on TikTok and Instagram.
Osei would also threaten her life, including threats to put her in Epping Forest and blow up her home.
After a bomb threat, Tianne called 999 and police attended, spotting marks on her neck.
On another occasion, he covered her face with a pillow and strangled her after she refused to send her friend and young son home.
Osei's past convictions and violent behaviour culminated in a pattern of significant domestic abuse, leading to Tianne’s death and his subsequent sentence.
The judge recognized the "persistent and significant" abuse driven by "jealousy," which caused her to self-harm.
Although her abuse was acknowledged as a contributing factor, Tianne's death was not directly linked to her injuries from abuse.
The family has started a GoFundMe to support causes Tianne cared about.
