JIMMY LOVELOCK

A man from West Malling was found to have covertly installed a listening device while subjecting his partner—who he had been involved with for nearly two decades—to ongoing abuse.

Jimmy Lovelock also placed GPS trackers in the woman’s vehicle to try and exert control over nearly every part of her daily life.

In May 2024, Lovelock was taken into custody, and an investigation by Kent Police uncovered allegations of physical assault and threats spanning several years.

Additionally, he imposed restrictions on her communication by demanding she use her phone and social media in specific ways, contributing to her social isolation from friends and family.

Throughout 2023, the victim noticed Lovelock appearing unexpectedly in locations she frequented.

By February of the following year, she found tracking devices in her car and a listening device inside her home.

Further evidence from the investigation indicated that, just before his arrest, Lovelock had shattered the windscreen of her car after an argument.

On another occasion, her vehicle’s tires were slashed.

During his trial at Maidstone Crown Court, Lovelock pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour from May 2022 to May 2024, as well as causing actual bodily harm.

He also admitted to possessing a Taser and cannabis.

Two additional charges, including witness intimidation, were left on file by the court.

On June 13, 2025, Lovelock, aged 43 and without a fixed address, was sentenced to 20 months in prison, with time served on remand deducted.

He was also issued a restraining order valid for ten years.
