MONSTER WHO REPEATEDLY RAPED, ASSAULTED AND STRANGLED WOMAN LOCKED UP FOR 18 YEARS
A heinous offender who left a woman fearing for her life after repeatedly raping, assaulting violently, and strangling her has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.Jeremiah Parchment, 46, from Thornaby, was detained and charged with multiple crimes following the brave testimony of the victim, who reported what had occurred to the authorities.
She described feeling that she was going to die.
Despite denying the allegations, Parchment was convicted by the jury on several counts, including three charges of causing actual bodily harm (ABH), two counts of rape, and three counts of deliberate strangulation.
He was taken into custody and scheduled to appear at Teesside Crown Court on Friday, June 5, where he received his substantial prison sentence.
Temporary Detective Constable Terri Seymour, the investigating officer, stated: “The victim endured repeated acts that were at times life-threatening, including strangulation, along with terrifying threats.
“I want to praise her for her resilience and bravery in coming forward and assisting this investigation.
Her strength throughout has been extraordinary, and her evidence was crucial in securing these convictions.
“While no punishment can undo the damage inflicted, I hope this outcome offers her a sense of justice and allows her to begin healing and rebuilding her life.” Cleveland Police encourage victims to report incidents at any time, whether online through the police website or by calling 101.
