2009: STOURBRIDGE TEENAGER JAILED AFTER BRUTAL ATTACK
A 19-year-old from Stourbridge received a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence after attacking his sister and stabbing her boyfriend.Jay Gallier had been drinking following an argument with his girlfriend and had been staying at his sister Rebecka’s house.
Nevertheless, she eventually asked him to leave due to his abusive conduct.
On March 25, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told that Gallier left the premises but then returned.
Inside, he punched his sister three times in the face and continued his assault.
Jonathan Harris, her partner, was able to hold Gallier down, but Gallier then grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the arm.
Judge Robert Orme commented, “It's a sad situation for someone who was given a chance out of kindness.
You completely lost your self-control that night.” Prosecutor Julian Elcock explained that during the physical struggle, Mr.
Harris sustained six more injuries that needed hospital care.
Rebecka attempted to defend herself by hitting Gallier with a kitchen bowl, but he broke free and ran away.
Gallier, who has no permanent address, admitted to attacking his sister and injuring Mr.
Harris.
The judge noted his tendency to lose his temper when things go wrong.
He had three previous assault convictions and recently separated from his girlfriend under circumstances involving heavy drinking.
His defense attorney, Peter Cooke, stressed Gallier’s desire to change his life and stay out of trouble.
