TV PRESENTER JAY BLADES FACES SERIOUS RAPE CHARGES IN SHROPSHIRE
TV presenter Jay Blades, renowned for hosting BBC's The Repair Shop, has been formally charged with two counts of rape according to West Mercia Police.He is scheduled to appear before Telford magistrates court on 13 August 2025 to face these serious allegations.
The police spokesperson stated: "Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape." Additionally, Mr Blades appeared in Worcester court via videolink, where he affirmed his identity during a preliminary hearing on a separate charge of controlling or coercive behaviour, which he denies.
His ongoing legal issues don't end there, as he remains on conditional bail for the latter case.
The incident has propelled Mr Blades into the media spotlight, overshadowing his previously celebrated TV career, which includes accolades such as a National Television Award and a BAFTA, along with hosting various other TV programmes and being awarded an MBE in 2021.
