JASON WRIGHT FROM DUNSCROFT SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN SOUTH YORKSHIRE
In a case that has shocked the community of Dunscroft, South Yorkshire, Jason Wright has been sentenced to prison for engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl. The incident took place at a residence in Dunscroft, where Wright, then 19 years old, lured the young girl into a situation that would have lasting emotional repercussions for her.According to court proceedings, Wright had supplied the girl with alcohol, specifically a quarter of a litre bottle of cider, before the sexual encounter. The girl, described as a virgin and generally well-behaved, had only met Wright twice prior to the incident. Despite her initial reluctance, she was persuaded by a friend to kiss Wright and not to refuse his advances. This peer influence played a role in her decision to go along with the situation.
The court heard that Wright took the girl to a bedroom within the house, where he removed her clothing and engaged in unprotected sex with her. One of her friends entered the room during the act and witnessed the act, which was a deliberate move to ensure that the news of the incident would spread throughout the village of Dunscroft. The girl was left emotionally distressed, crying herself to sleep that night, and confided in a teacher the following day.
Her mother, having heard the gossip circulating in the community, confronted her daughter, who then admitted to having sex with Wright. Medical examinations confirmed her account, leading to Wright’s arrest. It was revealed that Wright believed the girl was 15 at the time of the incident, a misconception that he expressed was unintentional. His defense argued that the sexual activity was consensual, with no threats or force involved, and that the girl had maintained friendly contact with him through texts after the event.
Wright, who is currently serving a separate sentence for robbery and has no fixed address, was sentenced to an additional 30 months in a young offenders’ institution. The sentence will run consecutively to his existing term. Furthermore, Doncaster Crown Court imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for ten years, which prohibits him from having any contact with individuals under the age of 18 upon his release.
Judge Patrick Robertshaw acknowledged the profound impact of the incident on the young girl, emphasizing that her lack of prior sexual experience and the nature of the unprotected sex made the case particularly serious. The court’s decision reflects the gravity of the offense and the need to protect minors from similar harm in the future.
