A Dorset farmer failed to keep proper livestock records, resulting in costs of almost £5,600 after admitting charges related to cattle documentation.
Wareham, 28, of Sunnyside Farm, Winterbourne Whitechurch, pleaded guilty to eight charges of failing to surrender cattle passports and eight of moving cattle without passports.
He also admitted to failing to send a passport after a cow's death and not maintaining a cattle register.
All offenses occurred between April 1998 and November 1999.
A MAFF officer saw cattle passports, but Wareham presented outdated documents and refused to hand over passports during inspection.
The court ordered an £18-month conditional discharge and £500 in costs.
