Bellanaleck Animal Abuser
A man from County Fermanagh has been formally sentenced to prison for heinous acts of animal cruelty after authorities uncovered disturbing footage depicting his involvement in violent acts against animals. Jason Lee Kennedy, aged 35 and residing on Marble Arch Road in Florencecourt, appeared before the court to face multiple charges related to causing unnecessary suffering to animals and attempting to incite animal fights.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Kennedy had recorded videos showing a cat and a badger being viciously mauled to death by dogs. The footage, which was taken on two separate occasions—June 28 and July 4, 2022—depicted the brutal attacks inflicted upon these defenseless creatures. The court was told that Kennedy’s actions demonstrated a disturbing level of cruelty, prompting the judge at Dungannon Crown Court to describe the case as profoundly unsettling. The judge questioned how any human could deliberately commit such acts of violence and cruelty against animals, emphasizing the severity of the crimes committed.

Kennedy was subsequently sentenced to a total of 27 months in prison. The sentence was structured so that he would serve half of this time in custody, with the remaining period on supervised release. Furthermore, as part of the court’s ruling, Kennedy was banned from owning or keeping any animals for a period of ten years, a measure aimed at preventing further abuse.

The charges against Kennedy stemmed from a police search conducted at his property located on Ross Road in Bellanaleck. During the search, authorities discovered over a dozen dogs believed to be involved in fighting activities. The police found the animals in conditions that raised serious concerns about their welfare and the illegal activities they were subjected to.

The videos obtained by law enforcement clearly showed Kennedy engaging in violent acts against protected species, including a badger and a cat. Both animals suffered severe injuries before succumbing to their wounds, highlighting the sadistic nature of the crimes.

The police force, represented by the Police Service of Northern Ireland, described the offense as 'sadistic and cruel,' reaffirming their commitment to tackling wildlife crime and animal abuse. They emphasized that such acts of cruelty are taken very seriously and that they will continue to pursue justice for victims of animal cruelty across the region.
