JASON BROOME FROM NEWQUAY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN CORNWALL
In a significant case that has shocked the local community of Newquay, Cornwall, a 48-year-old man named Jason Broome has been handed a prison sentence following his involvement in disturbing online activities targeting minors.The incident, which took place in April of this year, involved Broome engaging in inappropriate communications with children via the messaging platform WhatsApp.
Broome was brought before Truro Crown Court in September 2020, where he faced the consequences of his actions.
He had previously entered a guilty plea during a hearing in July, admitting to three serious charges related to his conduct.
These charges included one count of attempting to initiate sexual communications with a minor, as well as two counts of causing a child to view images depicting sexual acts involving a person.
The court proceedings revealed the gravity of Broome’s offenses, which involved efforts to exploit and manipulate vulnerable children through digital means.
The offences were committed in April of the same year, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.
Judge Simon Carr, presiding over the case, sentenced Broome to a term of 18 months in prison.
In addition to the custodial sentence, Broome was subjected to a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, a legal measure designed to restrict his future interactions and prevent further harm.
Furthermore, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a minimum of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety.
