HULL MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR CAMPAIGN OF HARASSMENT AGAINST EX-GIRLFRIEND
A man who extensively harassed a woman he met on a dating app has been sentenced to jail.Jamie Norris, aged 31 from Hull, was found guilty of a campaign of relentless abuse that included sending hundreds of cruel and nasty messages.
During court proceedings, it was revealed that Norris made abusive threats, called the woman disparaging names like "scum" and "cheat," and locked her out of her Facebook business account.
His harassment lasted several months, with the woman receiving over 510 calls from him within a span of just one night, and continued threats to harm her and her new partner if she entered another relationship.
Norris also tampered with her social media accounts by changing passwords and directing abusive messages, asserting that he would watch her house and potentially harm her if she didn’t drop charges against him.
Despite being placed on bail and instructed not to contact her, Norris continued to reach out through social media, creating new accounts to harass her further.
He also threatened to post nude photographs of her online, increasing the sinister nature of his actions.
At one point, he pressured the woman into retracting her police statement, claiming that social services would take her children away and that she would be jailed unless she complied.
The woman expressed that she was so distressed she had not left her house since the harassment began, kept her doors locked, and prevented her children from playing outside for fear of Norris lurking around.
Norris admitted to harassment and intimidating a witness.
The court sentenced him to two years and eight months in prison and issued an indefinite restraining order to prevent any further contact.
