TEENAGER ADMITS TO MURDERING MOTHER OF TWO IN GARLIC BREAD ROW
Jamie Ellis, an 18-year-old youth, pleaded guilty to the murder of 22-year-old Alami Gotip, a mother of two, in a savage stabbing assault.
The court heard that Ellis inflicted more than 30 knife wounds on Ms.
Gotip at her home in Dedridge, Livingston, West Lothian, after a dispute centered around garlic bread.
The incident occurred on 25 May while her children were sleeping upstairs.
Ellis admitted his loss of restraint, explaining that she was "moaning at him" for not making garlic bread, and he also expressed his belief that their relationship was coming to an end, saying: "I love her that much I can't possibly imagine her with anyone else." He now faces a life sentence, with sentencing scheduled for 5 October.
Ms.
Gotip was described as an outgoing and lively individual who worked at HM Revenue & Customs, helped raise her siblings, and cared for her mother.
Her mother, Karen McKenna, called her her "best pal" and said her loss "can never, ever be replaced." The court highlighted the viciousness of the attack, noting that Ellis was under the influence of Valium and cannabis during the assault.
Police described the incident as proof of Ellis's remorseless nature and underscored the significant emotional damage inflicted on Ms.
Gotip’s children and loved ones.
