MAN JAILED FOR SIX YEARS AND SEVEN MONTHS FOR RAPE
A man who humiliated and degraded his rape victim by urinating on her after committing the offence has been jailed for six years and seven months.Jamie Agar was said to have been an immature teenager when he committed the offence at his flat in Menston.
Prosecutor Philip Standfast told Bradford Crown Court today that Agar, who had no previous convictions, had forced his penis into the woman’s mouth and held her head.
Judge Kirstie Watson said Agar had inflicted further humiliation on his victim by following her into the bathroom and urinating on her.
The judge said Agar’s actions had increased the humiliation and degradation suffered by the complainant, who must not be identified for legal reasons.
Agar, of Ling Court, Menston, was arrested the next day and told police in a prepared statement that all sexual activity had been consensual.
But at the start of his trial in August this year, he admitted a charge of common assault in relation to the urination and he was found guilty by the jury of oral rape.
Barrister Rebecca Randall, for Agar, said he was a teenager at the time of the offending and he was now still a young man of 22.
She said her client had shown genuine remorse and empathy for the complainant and he was now a very different person to the young man who committed the offences.
“He’s never been to custody before,” she said.
“It’s going to be extremely hard for him particularly being convicted of this type of offence.” Judge Watson said Agar had been under the influence of alcohol that night.
The judge said the offences had taken a massive toll on the complainant.
“You acted in a way that has not only changed (the complainant’s) life forever, but has forever changed yours,” the judge told Agar.
Agar will now have to register as a sex offender with the police for the rest of his life.
