JAMIE-LUKE MALEE FROM EASTFIELD JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN YORK
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Eastfield and the wider York area, Jamie-Luke Malee, aged 27, has been sentenced to a year in prison after being found guilty of serious offences involving a young girl. The case highlights the dangers of online grooming and the exploitation of minors, and the court heard detailed evidence of Malee’s criminal conduct.According to court records, police officers executed a search warrant at Malee’s residence in Eastfield in July 2022. During the search, authorities confiscated multiple electronic devices, including a laptop, two iPhones, and a wall-mounted computer. An in-depth forensic analysis of these devices uncovered a disturbing collection of indecent images and videos involving children. Prosecutor Kelly Sherif revealed that the devices contained a total of 62 such images and videos, most of which depicted an underage girl who had been manipulated into performing sexual acts on camera.
Ms. Sherif explained that the young girl was persuaded by Malee to record herself in compromising situations and to send these images to him. The court was told that the majority of the material, specifically all but five images, were taken between December 2017 and September 2019. The evidence also showed that Malee had been actively communicating with the girl over the internet, encouraging her to produce and send explicit content.
Further investigations revealed that Malee had initially been arrested in September 2019. Following this, police continued their inquiries and re-arrested him in January 2020 after executing another search at his home. During this second search, officers discovered additional downloaded images and a series of messages exchanged between Malee and the young girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons. The messages indicated that Malee had solicited the images and had instructed the girl on what to do, demonstrating a clear pattern of grooming and exploitation.
At the time of his arrest, Malee had since moved to Doncaster, where he was living with his partner. Despite being questioned by police, he chose to remain silent and refused to provide the PIN code for his phone, complicating the investigation further. He faced multiple charges, including two counts of making indecent images of a child, taking an indecent photograph of a child, and engaging in sexual communication with a minor.
Malee pleaded guilty to all charges during his court appearance. The sentencing hearing took place on Wednesday, July 20, before Judge Sean Morris, the Recorder of York. In his remarks, Judge Morris condemned Malee’s actions, stating that he had engaged in sexual communication with the victim, which led to her sending him explicit images of herself. The judge emphasized that Malee had kept these images for his own gratification over a prolonged period.
Addressing the severity of the case, Judge Morris declared that the offences warranted an immediate custodial sentence. He highlighted that Malee had persuaded a young girl to perform sexual acts for him, which made the crimes particularly grave. As a result, Malee was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with the expectation that he will serve half of that term before being released on license.
In addition to his imprisonment, Malee was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years. He was also subjected to a six-year sexual-harm prevention order, designed to restrict his online activities and prevent further contact with children. Malee, now residing on St John’s Road in Balby, will serve his sentence and face ongoing legal restrictions aimed at safeguarding the community from future harm.
