SOUTHWELL MAN SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR RAPE AFTER COURT CASE
Police have released a picture of a Southwell rapist sentenced to five years.A jury returned a unanimous verdict of guilty to rape after four hours of deliberation following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court.
James Worsley, 23, of Westhorpe, Southwell, had claimed no sexual activity had taken place and that he had no idea why the victim would claim she had been raped.
The jury saw through his lies and accepted the victim's credible account of what had taken place.
His denials meant the victim was forced to relive the ordeal in court.
In evidence, the woman told the court how she woke to find Worsley having sex with her after a night out.
Worsley will be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
