James Owen, a resident of Nant-y-Mynydd in Llanfechell, Amlwch, has been convicted of possessing highly disturbing and illegal material involving both animal abuse and child exploitation. The incident came to light after Owen was apprehended by North Wales Police in 2022, during an investigation that initially targeted other suspects.
Authorities discovered on Owen’s mobile devices a collection of videos and images that depict sexual acts with animals, including a tortoise, a horse, and a dog. These materials are classified as extreme pornography, and their possession is a serious criminal offense. Among the disturbing content, police also found an image of a young girl, no older than ten, being subjected to abuse.
Owen, born around 1990, from Amlwch, Anglesey, Wales, faced charges in court after admitting to possessing these illegal materials. He pleaded guilty to multiple counts, including the possession of extreme pornographic videos and images involving animals, as well as creating an indecent photograph of a child.
The police investigation revealed that Owen’s devices contained four images and twenty-four videos showing individuals engaging in sexual acts with live animals. The discovery was made after police seized his devices as part of their broader inquiry into other suspects.
In sentencing, the court imposed a six-month custodial sentence, which was suspended for 18 months. Additionally, Owen was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid community work, attend 45 sessions of a specialized sex offenders’ rehabilitation program, and undergo alcohol treatment. He was also required to participate in 45 days of rehabilitative activities aimed at addressing his behavior.
