JAMES MILTON SENTENCED IN MARSKE-BY-THE-SEA FOR SEX OFFENCES AND ORDER BREACHES
A male sex offender named James Milton has received a one-year prison sentence after he admitted to multiple breaches of court orders. The incident unfolded on May 17, 2024, when officers from Cleveland Police's Online Investigation Unit arrived unannounced at Milton’s home.
The officers explained that a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) had been issued following his conviction for various offences related to indecent images of children.
During the search, Milton was required to surrender all devices with internet access and digital images for investigation.
Authorities found that he had used several aliases and usernames which he had not registered with law enforcement, along with SD cards that had not been presented for review.
An analysis of his electronic devices showed that he had deleted multiple apps, including Snapchat and Discord.
Although no indecent images were recovered, Milton pleaded guilty to four charges on April 4.
He was sentenced at Teesside Magistrates' Court on May 6, 2025, to a total of 12 months in prison, with four overlapping 12-month periods.
Detective Constable Barnes from the Paedophile Online Investigation Team noted the significance of complying with the court’s restrictions and highlighted that police actively surveil individuals subject to such orders to detect breaches promptly.
The case illustrates how Milton's failure to register aliases and deleting apps violated the terms of his court order and legal requirements.
The court’s ruling underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with court mandates and protect vulnerable populations such as children.
