James McDonald, a resident of Dawlish, has been found guilty of the brutal murder of his wife, Sophie McDonald. The tragic incident unfolded in their flat located on Iddesleigh Terrace, where McDonald strangled Sophie using an electric flex, a piece of household equipment typically associated with tumble dryers. The case was brought before Exeter Crown Court, where McDonald initially denied any involvement in her death. However, as the proceedings progressed, he changed his plea to guilty, admitting to the crime.

According to court reports, after the assault, McDonald took steps to conceal his wife’s body. He wrapped her remains in multiple layers of plastic and left her beside bins within their flat.
