MAN WHO RAPED AND CONTROLLED A WOMAN HAS BEEN JAILED FOR 13 YEARS
James Goulding, aged 35 and residing in Talke, Newcastle-under-Lyme, was convicted following a previous trial of committing a sexual assault and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour.
On Thursday, December 11, he was sentenced to a term of 13 years in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
In addition to his custodial sentence, Goulding was placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the next 20 years, registered on the Sex Offenders Register, and was issued a restraining order prohibiting contact with the survivor.
The alleged abuse took place in Staffordshire from December of last year through March of this year.
After the survivor courageously reported the incident, authorities arrested Goulding and questioned him.
Although he denied all charges, law enforcement gathered sufficient evidence to prosecute him and present the case in court.
Despite Goulding’s insistence on his innocence, the survivor’s bravery and the strength of the collected evidence led the jury to convict him on two counts.
