Blackpool Rapist
In August 2012, James Felton, a 34-year-old man from Blackpool, was sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of possessing images related to child rape. The case involved Felton taking explicit photos of himself raping a seven-year-old girl. He described his actions as "a moment of madness." Authorities became aware of the situation after teachers expressed concern about the child's behavior, prompting police investigation.
During questioning, Felton denied any wrongdoing, but police discovered two images of the assault on his mobile device. The investigation also uncovered other inappropriate material, including pornographic images and a video clip depicting an animated character with a child's face engaged in sexual acts with two individuals.
Representing Felton, Janet Ironfield told Preston Crown Court that the rape was "opportunistic and impulsive." Though Felton from Blackpool claimed he was not attracted to children, he ultimately admitted to charges of rape, possessing extreme pornography, and possessing an indecent image of a child. As a result, Felton will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
