JAMES DESIREE SENTENCED IN DYMCHURCH FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF TEENAGE BOYS
In a case that has shocked the community of Dymchurch, James Desiree, aged 39 and formerly residing in Lower Sands, was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges of sexual misconduct involving underage boys. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse that spanned over several years, culminating in a conviction that has left many residents deeply concerned about the safety of children in the area.Desiree, who also used the alias Steve McWilliams during the period of the offenses, was initially charged with two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor. However, during the course of the trial, he admitted to an additional three counts, bringing the total number of charges to five. The allegations stem from incidents that took place during the summer holidays of 2013, a period when Desiree was known to have befriended a 15-year-old boy in Dymchurch.
According to court records, Desiree’s relationship with the teenage victim began innocuously but quickly took a sinister turn. Over the course of a few weeks, Desiree exerted pressure on the boy to engage in sexual acts, exploiting his youth and trust. The victim eventually confided in another teenage boy about the assaults, which prompted Desiree to escalate his misconduct. The predator then sexually assaulted both boys behind a café that Desiree owned at the time, an act that was secretly recorded on film by the victims themselves.
The footage of the assaults was handed over to Kent Police, providing crucial evidence that led to Desiree’s arrest and subsequent prosecution. During police interviews, Desiree initially denied any involvement in the assaults. However, when confronted with the video evidence in a subsequent interview, he admitted to lying and confessed to the crimes.
The court sentenced Desiree to six years in prison, a sentence that reflects the severity of his actions. Additionally, he was disqualified from working with children for life, a measure aimed at preventing any future harm. He will also remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and safeguarding the community from potential reoffending. The case has served as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and protective measures for vulnerable young people in Dymchurch and beyond.
