PAEDOPHILE CLEARANCE MAN JAMES DAVIES FROM SWANSEA WAS JAILED FOR 16 SEX OFFENCES IN 2008
A man employed as a postman has been imprisoned for 18 months after installing a hidden camera inside a bedside clock to spy on a woman while she was undressing.James Davies, 25, from Swansea, purchased the alarm clock through eBay for £30 and presented it as a gift to the woman.
He used the device to record images, which he later downloaded.
The discovery was made when the woman became suspicious and found the concealed camera.
Police then searched Davies’s home and found thousands of images on his computer.
At Swansea Crown Court, Davies admitted to charges of voyeurism and also confessed to 15 other offences involving the possession of indecent images of young girls.
He was required to leave his job and will have to register as a sex offender for ten years.
Prosecutor Huw Rees stated that Davies had given the woman a bedside clock with a hidden camera, which he used to capture numerous moving images.
These were transferred from the device to his computer.
Rees further explained that the woman’s suspicion was raised when she received text messages commenting on her clothing, leading her to investigate.
The police acted soon after she uncovered the secret camera, which Davies had purchased online.
Judge Patrick Curran QC told Davies that voyeurism crimes breach personal privacy drastically, highlighting the seriousness of the offense.
