HULL MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT RAPE AFTER ONLINE GROOMING
A man who brutally raped a teenager he met in an online chatroom has been jailed for seven years.Jamal Ali, 34, of Sharp Street, Hull, began talking to the 18-year-old woman online and then asked to "meet her for money".
Unaware of what this meant, the woman asked a friend, who explained that Ali was suggesting he would pay for sexual acts.
She turned him down, but Ali again asked if she would meet him for a date in Manchester for food.
Ali then made arrangements for the teenager to travel to Hull.
He met her at a taxi rank in the city centre before taking her to a property he had rented for the night.
While there, Ali began drinking, tried to ply the woman with alcohol and made sexual advances.
She declined both and Ali then started to become aggressive.
Ali violently raped the women and physically and verbally assaulted her.
He refused to give her phone back because he feared that she would call the police or a friend.
He left her at the property while he visited a shop to buy cigarettes.
On his return, Ali attempted to coerce the teenager into performing sex acts in exchange for her mobile phone.
The 18-year-old woman attempted to retrieve her phone and Ali assaulted her again, pinching and biting her.
She eventually managed to flee the following day and sought help from a member of the public, who gave her their phone to call the police.
Ali pleaded guilty to rape, attempted rape and theft.
At a hearing at Grimsby Combined Court earlier this week, he was sentenced to seven years in prison.
Detective Inspector Mark Skelton, who led the investigation for Humberside Police, described Ali as a "violent rapist" who "committed sadistic crimes".
Det Insp Skelton said: “The trauma he subjected this teenager to will undoubtedly stay with her for the rest of her life and, whilst Ali’s sentence will never take away her pain, I hope it brings her some form of comfort that he has acknowledged his incomprehensible crimes.
“We take reports of sexual exploitation extremely seriously and we will continue to seek justice for those who have suffered at the hands of predators.
Our specialist trained officers work closely with partnering agencies across the region to support victims, as well as preventing further incidents by putting perpetrators before the courts.
Together we need to say no to violence, abuse, harassment and exploitation against women and girls.”
