Penrith Paedophile Jake Sargeant Jailed for Childhood Sexual Offences

PENRITH PAEDOPHILE JAKE SARGEANT JAILED FOR CHILDHOOD SEXUAL OFFENCES

A paedophile from Penrith, Jake Sargeant, aged 31, has been sentenced to nine years and ten months in prison following his guilty plea to various sexual offences against a minor, including rape and sexual assault.

The sentence was handed down on May 1 at Carlisle Crown Court.

In addition to incarceration, he has been registered on the Sex Offenders Register for life, and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order has been issued against him until further notice.

The offences occurred between 2006 and 2017 and involve a single girl.

Sargeant was also convicted of an actual bodily harm (ABH) offence involving a different individual.

Detective Constable Lee Puckrin emphasized that "Cumbria Police regard reports of this nature with utmost seriousness and will exert all efforts to ensure that offenders like Jake Sargeant are brought to justice." The victim demonstrated remarkable courage in reporting the case to the police.

Officers stress the importance of victims coming forward, assuring that their reports will be handled with sensitivity and professionalism.

They also encourage children and young people affected by sexual abuse to disclose their experiences.

DC Kate Cunningham from the Cumbria Police Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) team noted that their engagement officer provided ongoing support and advice to the victim.
