DOG BREEDER JAKE RILEY SENTENCED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE
On February 22, 2025, police officers visited Riley’s then address in Aspen Walk, Maltby, Rotherham S66 8DH, to investigate welfare concerns for animals living there.Officers tained entry and found six starving dogs and a deceased snake.
Two of the dogs had been confined in dirty crates without access to water.
All six had injuries and medical issues resulting from neglect.
A vets assessment highlighted the severe lack of care provided to the dogs.
One of the animals was in such poor health that she had to be euthanised immediately after being seized.
Two others were later put to sleep as their health declined, but the remaining three dogs have since undergone rehabilitation and now live with new owners.
Riley, who bred dogs under the name MVP, pleaded guilty to seven counts of causing unnecessary suffering to animals.
Sentencing | 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months; 200 hours of unpaid work; fined £754.
Seven-year ban (expires December 2032).
