A Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) issued to a convicted paedophile has resulted in his imprisonment after he was found to be in breach of the court conditions that aimed to restrict his access to certain devices and monitor his whereabouts.

Jake Pinhorn, a 31-year-old resident of Walton, was originally handed a significant 10-year SHPO in 2018 following a conviction for creating and distributing indecent images of children.

These actions marked him as a serious threat, and as part of his sentence, he was also ordered to register as a sex offender, a legal requirement intended to facilitate ongoing monitoring and management of his risk to the community.

Despite these strict conditions, Surrey Police authorities believed there were violations occurring during routine risk assessments.

Specifically, officers suspected Pinhorn was accessing the internet from an undeclared device an activity explicitly prohibited under the terms of his SHPO.

These suspicions prompted a warrant for his home in Walton, Surrey.

During the subsequent search, law enforcement officials uncovered a smartphone that was linked to Pinhorn, confirming their fears that he was indeed using a device without declaring it to police, thus breaching his court-imposed restrictions.

Furthermore, officers discovered that Pinhorn had also violated the conditions of his registration by staying at an address that he failed to disclose to authorities.

Pinhorn was immediately brought before Guildford Crown Court, where he admitted to the breaches of both his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and his sex offender register obligations.

As a result, the court sentenced him to a year in prison for these violations.

Surrey Police’s High Harm Perpetrator Unit, represented by PC John Rose, emphasized the importance of these legal measures.

“This result shows that we will work tirelessly and robustly to bring convicted sex offenders who breach the conditions placed upon them to justice.

Sexual Harm Prevention Orders are ultimately put in place to protect the community and manage risk around further offending, which is why any breach is taken incredibly seriously, and we will never hesitate to take action,” he said.

This case underscores the ongoing efforts by Surrey authorities to enforce court orders and ensure that individuals convicted of sexual offenses are kept under strict supervision to prevent further harm.
