SWADLINCOTE MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO SEXUAL ASSAULT AND POLICE ATTACK
A man from Swadlincote was accused of sexually assaulting two women and then physically attacking police officers attempting to detain him, a court has been told.Jake Norfolk was reported to have been extremely intoxicated and disruptive in Ashby town centre when officers responded to the scene.
The 26-year-old was taken into custody after allegedly touching two women inappropriately on Market Street.
During his arrest, he resisted by kicking and spitting at officers.
One officer sustained minor injuries as a result of the confrontation, according to North West Leicestershire Police.
Norfolk, who lives on Covert Place in Albert Village, was charged with two counts of sexual assault and five counts of assaulting emergency workers.
He admitted to these charges during his court appearance in Ashby on Friday, December 2.
He appeared before Leicester Magistrates' Court on Monday, December 5, where he pleaded guilty to all charges.
His sentencing is scheduled for Wednesday, January 4, at Leicester Crown Court.
Inspector Wayne Nimblette, representing North West Leicestershire Neighbourhood Policing Area, commented after the hearing: "It was evident that Norfolk was determined to cause trouble in the area, which caused upset among witnesses and the public.
We’re glad he has accepted responsibility for his actions, and we hope he considers his conduct and makes positive changes."
